A BIT ABOUT ME
Tamara Barker is a busy author with a ton on her mind. She enjoys writing whenever she has a free moment or journaling the wonderful and wild moments in her life. Religion, music, books, and comedy were staples in Tamara's childhood. They all play a role in her writing.
Tamara started her career as a Nurse in Canada, where she was born and raised. She continued her education in the United States and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Indiana University Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC). Tamara later became Board Certified as a Diabetes Care and Educational Specialist and worked in the inner-city hospitals of Indianapolis and Chicago. She loves living in Chicago but also loves her Canadian roots. You might even hear some "eh's" slip from her mouth.
Tamara is the author of Babies Around the World Dancing, a board book published by Duo Press, An Imprint of Sourcebooks Publishing. "Babies Around the World Dancing" was Released in 2019.
Tamara shares a love for two passions in life; writing and helping others. She believes humility is the key to living a life of selflessness. She wants to change the culture of giving and remind the world that on any given day, "There is Always a Time to Give."
Tamara enjoys volunteering in children's ministry along with working with the homeless. When she's not working with her organization, Blessed By Barker's, you can find her volunteering in various food pantries around the city.
In 2021, Tamara was diagnosed with a rare brain disease that required intensive brain surgery.
She faced obstacles, challenges, and barriers. However, they did not determine her outcome. They only made her brave, hopeful, and fearless! Christ's love allowed her to remain steadfast and immovable in times of uncertainty.
Tamara wants to encourage the world never to give up no matter what comes your way.
She hopes her story will inspire others to grow through what you go through—keep up the faith and keep on going!
One last thing! Tamara loves music and hats!! You will always see her rockin' a hat and whistling a tune!
